Kentucky Headhunters' and Brother Phelps' Ricky Lee Phelps Preps Gospel Album
Red Hen Records and Daywind Music Group are proud to announce the addition of Ricky Lee Phelps to Red Hen's roster of artists. Phelps is the former lead vocalist for the GRAMMY award-winning and multi-platinum selling country band, The Kentucky Headhunters, as well as the successful country duo, Brother Phelps.
Phelps' straight-ahead vocal is recognized on hits such as "Dumas Walker," "Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine," "Oh Lonesome Me," and "Let Go." Ricky Lee left the Country Music scene in the 90s to become a minister of the Gospel. According to Phelps, after years of success and at the pinnacle of fame, he stood on the GRAMMY stage and held the coveted award in his hands. At that very moment, he heard a voice saying, "Is this it? Are you fulfilled?" He realized later that it was the voice of God revealing to him that worldly success meant nothing in the grand scheme of life. Phelps dropped out of the industry completely to pursue a life of spreading the Gospel through preaching.
"I am incredibly excited to have Ricky Lee on board with Red Hen," says Micah Schweinsberg, Red Hen Producer. "His music has been a soundtrack to many lives, and I believe that those same people will continue to connect with him, but now they will connect with Christ through him."
An album and biographical book are set to release in 2017.
Red Hen Records, a division of Daywind Music Group, is home to other artists such as Michael Lee, Zach & Rodney, Ryan Watkins, Kevin Woody, Maisy Reliford, Hunter Erwin, Austin Zimmer, Bryan Carroll, Tiffany Nicole Porter, and Bruce Hedrick.
