Relay For Life Features All Things New, For King & Country and Rhett Walker Band, On June 14
This year's Relay for Life, on June 14 at the Hardin County Fair Grounds in Savannah, Tennessee, will feature popular Christian artists, All Things New, For King & Country and Rhett Walker Band.
Relay for Life is a community fundraising walk that creates awareness and raises money for the fight against cancer. It is an organized, overnight event during which teams of people camp out around a track and take turns walking around it. It also includes food, games, entertainment and other activities. It is a very family-friendly environment and allows people to show their support for cancer awareness, in addition to honoring cancer survivors.
Relay for Life occurs in different locations throughout the United States and each event varies, however, they share a few common features. Each relay features a Survivors Lap, during which all concur survivors are invited to take a lap around the track and be recognized by other participants. They each also feature a Luminaria Ceremony in which candles are lit in personalized bags and placed around the track as a tribute to those whose lives have been affected by cancer. Each event also features an emotionally driven Fight Back Ceremony, which inspires viewers to take action against cancer. Finally, every relay also touches upon the history of the event.
All Things New, For King & Country and Rhett Walker Band are sure to put on a wonderful show. The band members from All Things New began traveling to Savannah from their home town in Florida the day before the event in order to ensure that they would make it to the fairgrounds on time. "We have a show with Rhett Walker and For King & Country, it's at a Fairground tomorrow and we're going to be playing there, so we're just driving today because I think it's like a 12 or 13 hour drive from home for us so we had to make it a full-day drive," Garrett Hornbuckle told us in an interview yesterday.
The relay begins at 6 p.m. tonight (June 14).
